Data entry object does not behave as expected when published in CD format

Jan 28, 2017

Hello,

I have been following lately discussions on publishing courses for the intended environment, ie local or web.

In my case, I am forced to publish in web format for local distribution, ie desktop or CD.

This is happening because in my course I need to get users to enter text. And based on experience, Data Entry objects to not behave properly as expected. In particular, the 'Enter Key' does not work either to end entry or enter another line of text or paragraph. This problem does not occur when it is published in web format.

So I find myself publishing in web format for local use or distribution. I am glad that there are work around solutions for the Flash Player issue.

But for me, getting the Data Entry object to work properly when published in CD format is a better solution so I don't have to publish in web format when I really need to just distribute the course in PCs or CDs (.EXE format).

My two cents. Thank you.

Hi Caesar,

Thanks for sharing your experience with us. This is something that we've reported it to our QA team in regards to the CD published output. For the sake of updating the report, can you please share what Storyline version you're using?

One workaround I would recommend for now is to use a different key or trigger to submit the interaction. I've flagged this thread for update once there is additional information to offer from our team, but I can't offer a particular time frame for that information or update.

Great news!  We just released another update for Articulate 360, and included a few important fixes that you'll see in the release notes here.

The item you'll be interested in is how the Enter key wouldn't work in courses published for CD.

Just launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer and click the Update button. Details here.
