Drag and Drop Reset States

Jan 12, 2016

Hi all

I am trying to reset a state when an object is dropped on another answer.

There are seven questions to be aligned in order - Step 1 - Step 2 etc

When each answer is dragged to a step it changes state to show a tick or cross if it is in the correct place or not.

When it is dragged off the state removes

The problem occurs when another answer is dragged onto an existing answer because the first answer resets its position but will not remove the tick or cross state.

Hi Pete,

Thanks again for sharing your file - I played with the first answer and the first box as Step 1 and "Make sre everyone in the area is aware of the spillage" and dropped it correctly to Step 1. I saw the check mark indicating correct. I then dragged another answer and dropped it over step 1, and the original answer returned to it's start location and then the state did change to the X. I was able to do this a number of times and have it alternate back and forth. So it seems to be working as expected  - if a particular answer/option isn't working I'd encourage you to look at the triggers for the answer that did work for me and perhaps go about duplicating them and seeing how that works going forward.

Also, if it's behaving differently on your set up, I'd look at confirming a few other elements such as working on local project files as described here and ensuring you're using the latest update of Storyline 2.

Feel free to let us know if you need anything else.

Putting the marks on the targets seems to work better.

As to getting the marks erased when an answer is removed from the target, try this trigger:

It is attached to Rectangle 1. You need to attach one of these triggers to each answer for each of the targets (7X7=49). A lot of work, but I's sure you'll think it is worth it when you see the results.

Any time a shape is dragged on or off the target, the target goes to normal, then when the shape is dropped on the target, your correct and incorrect triggers kick in.
