Hi, I'm John. I'm a 10-year Captivate developer and recent "born again" Storyline devotee. My first test project involved small MP4 video clips. The project published perfectly, but when uploaded to a shared server, the "normal" slide content displayed (images, shapes, etc)' but the videos were nowhere to be found. I used the "from file" option so as not to rely on a linked MP4. Any ideas?
You probably need the "mime type" set on the web server. The mime type tells the server what a file is, and if the server doesn't know what an MP4 file is, it won't run it.
I agree, this is likely a MIME-type issue on the server. You could confirm that it is an issue with your server by uploading your content to TempShare, DropBox or GoogleDrive and test it there.

Thanks so much Michael..!!!
That certainly makes mimes much more useful than the image of a guy pulling on an imaginary rope ... :)

Hi John,
Here is additional information on how this would work within Storyline. Here are some other elements you may want to look into in regards to videos that won't play properly.
