Error with integration in LMS: initialize is sent twice

After revising a course, I get the error that the module sends "initialize" twice after integration into our LMS (Ilias). Does anyone have any idea where I can look for the source of this error? The tracking settings have not been changed, but various variables have been added to the pages to prevent simple clicking on the slides (content must first be clicked on, videos watched, tasks solved).

Hi Everyone!

I'm happy to share that we just released Storyline 360 (Build 3.84.31647.0) which includes the fix for the bug:

  • Error initializing communications with LMS "when a course is set to 'Always Resume'.

Now all you need to do is update Storyline 360 in your Articulate 360 desktop app to take advantage of the newest bug fixes and features!

You can enable the LMS debug logs for your course to help identify exactly at which point in your course is the "initialize" sent multiple times to your LMS. With debug mode enabled, you can launch your course while monitoring the logs, and it should help log what's going on with your course as you go through it.

Additionally, you can also test your course in SCORM Cloud to compare if you'll encounter the same behavior there. If you can replicate the behavior in SCORM Cloud, indicating that the behavior is present regardless of which LMS is used to host your course, please share a copy of your project file here or in private by opening a support case so we can take a closer look at what's happening. We'll delete it when we're done testing!

Thanks for sharing what you see with your Storyline course; I'm sorry you ran into this!

We have an open issue in Storyline 360 with an error in initializing communications with LMS when a course is set to Always Resume. This problem was observed in a recent Storyline version. Can you please confirm if that is your setting and if changing Prompt to Resume resolves the issue?
