Evaluation Inserting Video

Feb 22, 2013

Hello,

I am evaluating storyline with the 30Day trial. I inserted serval types of videos that are on the list of supported formats. Each one of them when you preview the video or publish the course locally show what seems to be a scrambled picture. Is this feature disabled in the evaluation version or is there something I am doing wrong?

Video formats inserted:  WMV 1280 x 720, WMV 640 x 360, MOV 180 x 320, MP4 640 x 320

I also attempted to insert a video recorded directly from the application and same scrambled preview or publish. All these video look fine in my Windows Media Player and have no protection of there own.

Hi, Michael -

The trial should be fully functional. This is a very odd symptom. I don't believe I've seen anyone with this issue in the forums.

What version of the Flash player are you running? http://whatismyflash.com

Publish a test file that contains a video. Explore the output folder, looking within the story_content folder. There should be a renamed MP4 in this folder (storyline assigns unique names to media). Try to play this file directly to see if it's scrambled. If this file is scrambled, it's probably a corrupted install (One of your DLL's could have expanded incorrectly). I'd try uninstalling and reinstalling.

Thanks for that Steve,

I published one more time and sure enough, getting the same result. The version of Flash Player is 11.1.102.62

The video files on the output of the published project are files such as video_5yHNtPa3ItO_30_48_320x180.mp4 these files under the story_content folder when you right click them can open with media player but can not embed them into the Storyline project. I though at first this was due to the videos being downloaded from iStock photo but then the video that I record directly from storyline itself it the same. I wouldn't think this would be a codec issue either as I can play all the files from the output folder. I can not post the file to you just yet but will when I am on a network that will allow it.
