I want to do something that seems simple on the surface, but that I can't seem to implement.
If I have a layer that is opened by clicking a button, and then closed by clicking a button on the layer, is there a way to have an exit animation that happens WHEN THE LAYER IS CLOSED, as opposed to at a specific time on the timeline?
The exit and entrance animations are specific to objects and are triggered by their point on the timeline. Are you looking for animations on an object or a transition such as you'd see between slides? Here is information in regards to the transitions you could add to slides and layers.
Glad you were able to find something that would work for you Kayla and thanks for popping in to share both your update and the link to the solution for others in the community.

That doesn't have the effect I want unless I can have a transition that happens when a layer closes?
Basically I have a help button on the slide master, that opens a help layer on every slide.
I want that layer to fly in when opened, and fly out when the learner clicks close. I'm surprised there isn't an easy way to do that...
Are there no "on-click" animation trigger options?
In case anyone else comes across this problem, I found the solution here: https://community.articulate.com/discussions/articulate-storyline/can-you-give-a-slide-layer-an-exit-transition

In Storyline 2 it is easier now to use pause and unease layers see this example

Oh. I never thought to pause and restart. That works too! Thanks!
