Exit & Refresh buttons not working

May 05, 2014

I've set up a button trigger on the last slide which should allow the user to Exit the course and it's not working when published on the Web or via an LMS.

Also the player refresh button is not working. Anyone any ideas?

Hi there Howie,

Just out of curiosity, is this an updated course that was uploaded over an existing course? If so, I recommend clearing your web browser cache, or try viewing the project in another web browser.

What version of Storyline are you using to publish? You can find this information by clicking on Help >> About Articulate Storyline. If you're not using Update 5, it may help to download and install the update, then republish.

If the issue continues, can you tell us if you're viewing the HTML5 or Flash version of the course?

If you could provide your project's .STORY file here, I'd be happy to take a look.

Thanks!

The refresh button is related to the slide revisit property if it is not set to reset to initial state then it may not work as you would expect.

The exit button is dependent on browser security and can be affected by LMS's setting

Hi Phil,

Re the exit button, I've tried this on the latest versions of Chrome, IE & Firefox and it doesn't work on any.

How would establish what browser setting it should be on?

Hi guys,

Phil,

Thanks for sharing that information :)

Howie,

It can vary between browsers and LMS servers. Have you tested your project outside of your LMS, to see if the problem may lie with the server? I suggest using SCORM Cloud for your course - it's a great place to test SCORM content.

If you'd like, I can test this on my end. To share a file with me privately, submit a case and insert ::christine:: in the case description. This should assign both the case and file to me. Also, please be sure to provide a brief description, or the URL for this thread.

Thanks!

Hi Howie,

Thank you for sharing the file information through our support case form. The case (#00398703 for my reference) and the file were successfully assigned to me.

Because you opted to send this in privately, I'm going to keep our communication private at this point. I just don't want to share any links or files here without your consent. I'll be responding through the support case at this point, but I will update this thread when we're able to find a solution.

In the meantime, if you are more comfortable communicating in this thread, just let me know.

Thanks very much!

I am having this same issue with my Exit button.  I have published to the web and have tested it out on my Dropbox public folder.  I am able to get the exit button to work in IE but once I click the confirmation button it then says IE has encountered a problem and needs to stop.  It doesn't work at all in Chrome.

Also I am viewing just the story.html and not the HTML5 version.  I did check and I have the latest update 5.

Not sure how to get this to work.

Thanks,

carrie

Hi Carrie,

I took a look at the previously mentioned case, and it seems in Howie's set up it was due to the some LMS settings (launching the course in the same window) and browser settings. You mentioned testing it through Dropbox? Is that where you'll eventually be hosting your course? Are you able to share a link to the course here with us (or send to me via a private message) to narrow down if it's connected to your browser settings?
