I am using Premiere Pro and After Effects. I want to be able to export an animation that I create in Storyline into a Premiere Pro video so that it plays just like any other video clip that I would import. Is this possible? If so, how do I properly export from Storyline or Presenter so that it functions like a movie clip?
Are you referring to being able to export your entire course to an MP4? We don't have that feature in Storyline yet, and we don't share our product roadmaps or timelines publicly, so unfortunately I don't have anything else to share about that set up.
The strength of SL is interactivity and user participation (which hopefully lead to greater engagement), and those are pretty tough to package into a video.
As the OP stated, SL creates great looking animations. I, and obviously others, would like to take those clips and incorporate them into videos. That ability strengthens the Articulate brand and makes the product far more flexible. It extends the reach of the product from merely a computer-based tool to something that can add dimension to instructor-led and other online delivery course formats.
I have created many short-form (less than 10-minute) how-to videos using Adobe Captivate (they even export to HD) . The vids are used on YouTube and in classrooms. I would prefer to use SL so that I don't have to re-create the same set of animations, vid captures or simulations in multiple tools. That is a waste of time (and limited budget).
First let me say I love SL, and all the functionality of it.
Having said that, I believe in Blended Learning. Having Videos in Instructor Led training, or Exported Video to do IL training, or a Presentation on, or offsite can also lead to greater engagement from you trainees, employees, the public and your customers.
YouTube and other Social Media outlets also lend themselves to Videos where you can engage the World if they "click" the link.
SL is a powerful program and I think it can be utilized for many venues if you think outside the box. So one day, I hope that function will be available. It's needed at my desk.
Have a great day everyone. Thanks for the feed back!
Hope you have a great day too Jeff - and I can certainly understand your desire and need for this type of functionality, but in the same vein Walt makes a great point in regards to Storyline's interactivity. With all that being said, I'm not one of our product designers or even an instructional designer - so the why around this feature not being included, I'd leave to them. They don't get into the forums as often as they'd like, but you can also share your thoughts directly using this form.
You're right John, it is pretty stock, but it was from me :) I just do not want users to miss out on the opportunity to share their thoughts/ideas/suggestions with our team and get lost where they might not get the attention they deserve. We are working to improve this process though and it is a common discussion among a few of our teams here.
In the meantime, I wasn't sure if you were aware that Replay publishes to mp4. I know some users find it valuable to record the Storyline output in this way so that they can utilize an mp4 if needed. This could be a possible workaround. I recently had this discussion with a user here as well.
Should we add a voice to existing feature request (is there a link to it?) or to create a separate feature request (which is about the same topic)? I stumbled upon this thread when looking how to export slides from storyline as video sequence.
It's honestly kind of wild that Storyline doesn't have this. As someone who works in a university environment, where I get requests to convert modules into videos for folks overseas with spotty internet, I did this a lot with Captivate. Recording my screen to create an .mp4 with audio playing from my computer speakers is incredibly unprofessional when a smooth export function would solve the problem. I've submitted my feature request.
I know this thread is old, and I will put in a Feature Request, but how many people in 2019, like me, would love to use Storyline to create animations that could then be exported as video clips? I could do 90% of what I need in Storyline, and not have to use AfterEffects, etc.
There's a lot that could be added to Storyline to make it more of a multimedia powerhouse. But it first takes us users filing feature requests for Articulate's consideration.
I recently spent a couple of weeks creating videos with Vyond for two client courses in SL360. There was a lot in Vyond that I wish was in SL.
Storyline 360 includes a publish to Video feature that may meet your needs! That way anything you add into Storyline would be included in your published video.

Hi John!
You are welcome to share your thoughts with our product development team here.

Dear Peter,
Should we add a voice to existing feature request (is there a link to it?) or to create a separate feature request (which is about the same topic)? I stumbled upon this thread when looking how to export slides from storyline as video sequence.
Thank you!
Hi Irina,
You're welcome to do both! You can submit Feature requests here. If you’re wondering what happens when you submit a feature request, here’s our process.
Thanks for chiming in and letting us know what other features you'd like to see!

I feel like I've lost something here.
Hey Merritt,
We understand and heard this from many of our customers.
The good news is we've included this feature in the latest update to Storyline 360.
Take a look at the details here and let us know how it works for your courses.

Cool! That's a good reason for my team to upgrade from SL3!
