File size growing

Hello everyone!

I've created a story using SL3, which was a little too large to fit into our LMS when first published. So, I've edited the story a great deal - removing images, reduced quality screen recordings, etc., etc. I've saved the new story after each change to see the file size and it seems to be growing instead of shrinking. When I started, the zipped file was about 160MB. After making changes it has ranged from 163MB to 165MB. Has anyone noticed this behavior? The more I work with the file (even though I'm removing/shrinking content) the more the file size grows.

Thanks in advance for any advice you might be able to offer.

Hello, try doing a Save As, a couple of times.  I notice if I do a Save As the first time, the file does not get smaller, but once I do it a second time, it gets smaller.  I am not sure why, as I have done similar where I have removed a bunch of items (big images, heavy video which I compress etc.) and the file on a Save or first Save As does not make it smaller, but the 2nd Save As does. 

Here are the steps I follow after removing items:

  1. Make a copy of the file with it closed first. Copy/Paste the file then open it.
  2. Once open, do a Save As.
  3. Do a second Save As.

That usually shrinks the file for me, don't ask me why! ;0)
