Flash Sunset and the Articulate Updater

Aug 05, 2019

We are preparing for the 2020 Flash sunset by converting our Storyline course to HTML5 only using Storyline 360, and wanted to see if others have a game plan for this transition. I found this link about the Articulate Updater but it lacks in details. Can anyone provide information on how the Articulate Updater works and what exactly is it 'updating'? What are you all doing to prepare for the Flash sunset?

Hi Jessica,

The phase-out of Flash has been a long time coming, and our team has been hard at work preparing for it over the last couple of years. To provide more details, we've outlined our plans for the phase-out of Flash in this discussion.

The latest Google Chrome update disabled Flash by default, but it can be enabled in Settings at which point explicit permission is still required for each site when the browser is restarted. You can see more details on their plans here.

Preparing to update all your courses for HTML5 only using Storyline 360 is the right move! You'll need to open them and republish with that option selected to upload to your LMS/Web server.

The Articulate Updater allows for you to mass update already published courses to ensure they work on the latest browsers and systems, but it won't change the publishing method, so right now you'll need to manually update each course and the publish settings.

Let me know if you need anything else!
