Font size on the Notes section

Oct 01, 2019

Is there a way to globally increase the font size in the Notes section.  It comes in at size 9, but I would like to make it size 11 for ease of reading for those who need the transcript.   Now, I am manually changing every slide note section.

Hello all!

If you're still subscribed to this discussion, I wanted to share that the feature mentioned has been released! In Storyline 360 (Build 3.85.31840.0), you can now instantly update the formatting of all slide notes in your project.

From here, all you need to do is update Storyline 360 in your Articulate 360 desktop app!

I would very much like to see this feature prioritized.  Articulate constantly touts the accessibility features that Storyline offers.  Those are wonderful things, but what about those of us who spend 8 or 10 hours a day using Storyline?  Personally, my eyesight isn't what it used to be.  A font size that I can actually read without having to adjust every single slide is not a want; it's a need.

At the very least, can you not reset the default size to something reasonable?  What was the logic behind choosing a 9 point font?

Hello Everyone,

Like most of you here, this issue of not being able to globally change the font size for the notes is frustrating. I'm not young like my chosen avatar so it's difficult for my old eyes to read fonts set at 9 pt.

I recently saw a post by Thor Melicher (Export all captions in one click? Yes! How about slide notes? That too, and more! - Articulate Storyline Discussions - E-Learning Heroes) stating that he has developed an app that can change the "slide notes font, size, and color". I was able to test the app for this purpose and it worked as advertised.

The app does a lot more than just changing the font parameter in the slide notes. For example, I'm able to extract all my course's media assets such as images, videos, audio, and captions into individual folders without having to open any slide in SL. This is a really big deal if you have to work on an SL file that was created by someone else or in my case, need to repurpose those assets to use in other Articulate projects and non-articulate projects.

If you need relief from the eye strain and frustration of having to repeatedly change the font size on each slide, check out this app, it will make using SL more enjoyable.

Is this absolutely basic function (and required for many of my clients who request ADA compliance and transcripts for audio dialogues) still not manageable??? Literally have to manually increase a font size in slide notes for 100s of slides individually when it can't even be enforced from the slide master???

Requested nearly four years ago and 'not on the roadmap' in any way?

Hi Lindsay,

Thanks for checking in on this! I understand you are looking for an update on the ability to make global changes to the size of the font in the slides notes. There currently hasn't been any movement on this as we prioritize other features. I'm going to include your voice in the request. We’ll update this discussion when there is any news to share about this.

There are a lot of feature requests that I see on the forum that I think would be nice-to-haves, but should be considered the realm of other software. I get wanting to have animation paths with bezier control, but that's what After Effects and Blender are for. I get wanting expert editing of closed captioning, but there are a bunch of other services you could explore. I get wanting translation options, but you can republish per language using the "translation" feature. Formatting text, however (including paragraph and padding options, whether it is notes, or setting the default in shapes, or bullets), is controlled by Storyline. I can import, export, copy-as-text all day; but I *need* to format in the publishing software. This should be the top priority.
