getting under the hood for quiz slides

Where can I find out how the quiz slides actually work? I hope that it is clever use of variables and triggers, not actual coding. 

I'm trying to make a quiz slide where the learner has to enter the 5 terms for ADDIE. If they get them all right in the right order, they get points. If not, they don't. 

I'm seeking a more detailed explanation of how the quizzing function works, not just how to use the templated questions.
