I haven't seen those white boxes before - but I'd want to know if you're only seeing it in Chrome and if you're viewing the published output locally or uploaded to it's final environment? Also are you viewing the Flash or the HTML5 output? With the HTML5 output, you'll also want to make sure you're using the latest update of Storyline to publish your courses or have run the Chrome updater as detailed here.
If you're still experiencing odd behavior after checking into those items, could you share a copy of the .story file so that we could take a look?
