I've been trying to get my storyline project to play on my iPad. I published it to html_5 and I uploaded it to my website. When I go to that page, the "loading dial" seems to be working in the center of the screen, but the story never comes up. It works fine when I access it from my laptop. http://chemin10.com/mobile-test
suggested resolution... import from SL to SL. And don't store file on an LCMS.
I did this - import from SL locally to SL locally and saved locally. Never used the LCMS. At first the htm5 worked but then I made a few minor changes (Added a glossary and exit button) and then published and the html5 didn't work again but the html did. Support's only response is, storing files on an LCMS is not supported. But I said I tried it locally and it still didn't work. So storing on the LCMS can't be the problem. I really need some help determining what the actual problem is. Please Help!
Sorry to hear you are having difficulty. Can you please send us your files so we can review them? You can simply send us the .STORY file and let us know your publishing stettings. I would also make sure that when you view the content, you are viewing the story.html file. The only time you would see the HTML5 version is if you are using a browser that doesn't support Flash. If you wanted to view the HTML 5 content the only supported browsers are noted here.

Hi Dave: Hmmm! As soon as I saw you had added a glossary it made me wonder if that's the problem?! I was also having problems publishing to HTML5 with one of my modules that included the glossary tab. Articulate support suggested I look at the player as the culprit because other modules were fine with HTML5 (and they didn't have the glossary.) I'm very new at this, but looking at the player gave us a direction to go. Thought I'd pass it on to you.
Mona - thanks, I've been wondering if it's the glossary too. I guess my frustration is that Articulate Support just keeps telling me they don't support storing the files on an LCMS or network - even though I tell them I've tried storing locally. How did you ultimately fix this? not having the glossary isn't an option for this course.
Justin, I already have a ticket in and sent my files in and haven't gotten any where at all with it - supports response: do not store my file on a network or LSMS, but that obviously isn't the solution to this problem. I know Chrome and Safari are the only browsers that support HTML5. The problem is, I not only have tried to view the html5 file in both of those browsers, but also on the ipad from our LMS. So it isn't that the file is not stored locally (because I've tested that too) and it isn't that I'm trying to view the html5 in IE because that is impossible and of course only shows the "story_unsupported.html" file. However, I think Mona is on the right track. Because, as soon as I import from SL to SL and publish, the html5 file displays in chrome or safari. However, as soon as I add the glossary, set my Player settings (where I want Notes, Glossary, and the Menu to display) and then publish, the HTML5 no longer works.
so as soon as I delete the glossary, the html5 plays again. This seems to be a bit of a problem if you can't have a glossary in a course. I know the glossary is not supported in HTML5 but I didn't think that meant if you added a glossary that the entire HTML5 would not work - I thought it just meant the glossary would not work in the HTML5 output.
As stated in your support case, the issue will be resolved in the next free update. Unfortunately, I don't have any information regarding when that will be released.
Dave: Well, I'm working on how to fix it today! I changed the title of glossary to FAQ because I wanted a place for users to go for a quick reference on course features, etc. So, at this point, my idea is to create a slide as part of the introduction labelled FAQ's. I'll put a link to it on one of the introductory pages to introduce it. I am leaving my menu open so it doesn't condense as the course proceeds and it would always be seen on the menu. I think an option for a glossary slide would be when a term appears in the text you would create a link that would send them to the glossary for the definition. Or, depending on how many terms you are planning to include, you can create a lightbox slide that appears for each term. If you have a lot of terms, that's a lot of slides!!
I'm sure there are a lot more experienced users who would probably have better suggestions, but that's my novice approach! Please let me know if you come up with a workable solution yourself.
(I would highly recommend Storyline developers work on including a working glossary tab that works in HTML5 soon.)
Brian, I guess my next question is... has this been an issue since the release of SL? or was there an update since the release that ended up breaking the glossary?
Mona... yeah, I'll hack something together. Unfortunately, I can't spend countless amounts of (additional) time on this coming up with a workaround so it will probably be something simple and really boring.

Hi Dave,
We haven't released any updates to SL since the initial launch. The issue with blank content seems to be project specific as we can only replicate the issue on a few projects.
well let us know if you want us to break anything else
I used to get really mad at my coworker Tim when he would hit enter 9000 times in a row rapid fire style to see if he could break an a custom Flash interaction and he succeeded. Then I would ask "is anyone actually ever going to do that Tim?"...
It is my understanding that most SCORM LMS will launch a course in an iFrame, so I hope that isn't the problem here. I am going to watch this thread to see how the iPad plays out.
Aside from all this, http://www.html5test.com is an interesting website to compare html5 support among browsers.
Last, has anyone run a successful test of Storyline courses on an iPad launched from http://cloud.scorm.com ?
iFrame or how the course launches isn't the problem. We had the course working on an ipad without the glossary. Literally, adding the glossary made it so the HTML5 output simply does not work - in essence, the story_html5.html is corrupt by adding the SL glossary but the story.html still works. Take the glossary out, and the story_html5.html works again.
Hi I am using Articulate Storyline 2. I Published my content using "Include HTTML5 output" option.
its working fine in desktop but not working properly in iPad(8.3) version.
in Exam section there are five questions and result slide to show fail/pass. All 4 question have next/previous button and in the last question it has only previous and Submit button. afters submit the all options correct, result slide should show Pass but its showing Fail. This happening in only iPad. Please suggest...
I'm sorry to hear about the issue you've run into. It sounds like you're viewing it in the HTML5 content in Mobile Safari - do you know what update of Storyline 2 you're publishing with? Our latest update is Update 7 and you may also want to look at updating your iOS to the latest.
Also, have you tested outside your LMS in a site such as SCORM Cloud perhaps? It's an industry standard for LMS testing.

@Dave, until they make the glossary available in HTML5, maybe it would be worth just recreating the glossary as an external web page?

It would be interesting to do a study to see how many learners actually use glossaries, but that is beside the point.
(It probably depends a lot on the content).
Hi Brian, do you have a date for this update please?
Many thanks
Andy

Hi Sam,
Yes, just got it working today. Launched through cloud.scorm onto iPad and recording basic data successfully. If I can help please let me know.
Many thanks
Andy
Thanks. This is good to know. I will be testing myself in the near future.
Have you tested the iPad with the course launched (1) in an iFrame and (2) in a new window?
Another point: Is there a list of Storyline features that do not work in HTML5 that require the Articulate player?
Hi Sam,
This article compares the Storyline features that are supported in the Flash Player, HTML5, and the Articulate Mobile Player app for iPad.
Notes - not available on HTML5?
NOTES not available on HTML5?
Correct.
