Having trouble with Triggers
Jul 28, 2014
Hi All,
I am having trouble with triggers. I recently created a drag and drop interaction that includes triggers to jump to a diffent layer when a specific button is dropped onto the targeted area. The first trigger I set up on the first button works as it should. However that same trigger is being copied to the other buttons and when I try to update the trigger on the other buttons it jumps back to the first button.
It seems thses buttons are linked some how but I am unsure as to how or what to do to fix this.

Hi Shimeka and welcome to Heroes!
Is the trigger still referring to the previous button within the set up? Triggers are something tricky to diagnose without the actual slide or the .story file. Are you able to share it here with us or even a sample/example of the course?
When you copy the trigger the code is the same on the new button you copy it to
Then you should click on the link where you see the new triggers and make the change you want.
You are welcome to ask more it's newer easy to learn a lots of new things.
Have a good day.
Hi Ashley,
Yes thats exactly it! The trigger is still referring to the previous button and I am also having the same issue with the slide layers. I made changes to one layer and that change is now reflecting in the other layers as well. Not sure what I am doing wrong. I have attached the file for your review.
Hi Shimeka,
Nice layout! You're on the right path.
I tweaked your file a bit and it looks to behave like you intend.
First, the triggers. All your buttons have the same trigger: Show Layer [layer name] when [button object] dropped on [drop target]. Only difference between these triggers is which layer to show.
Next is the "Play" button you have on those individual layers that Jump To their respective slides. Single trigger each.
Now, when a user returns from one of the video slides by clicking the Prev button, they're returned back to the main menu slide (1.1). Yet, the previous drag item is still in the drop target. To reset all the buttons back to their home position, I changed the Slide Properties to "Reset to Initial State" when returning so it appears as if it's the first visit again. From here, users can drag the same button again or choose a new one.
This should fix you up!
OMG thank you so much Kevin!!!
You're most welcome, Shimeka!
