HELP! Storyline prevents me from saving the latest version of a project multiple times a day

May 24, 2021

Dear all,

I have just purchased a brand new, 64-bit based HP computer, with 16GB of RAM, running on the most recent version of both Windows and Storyline 360.

Yet at times I cannot save the file I am working on. The message prompted varies from from 'there is not enough memory/low on memory, you need to close some programs' - although ONLY Storyline is running - to 'parameter is not valid'.
Either way it is extremely frustrating - even more so while editing an existing project - as it is not clear until when .tmp files have followed along.

I followed the suggestions of HP when it comes to the settings and adjusted the panel on Performance-->Settings-->Advanced-->Virtual Memory. But saw only partial improvements.

Is there any other thing I can do to avoid Storyline from blocking me from saving my work, i.e. stop working twice on the same slides?
Is there any other user with a similar problem?

Thank you for your help in advance

Marco

Hello Aurélie, and welcome to E-Learning Heroes. 😊

Thank you for reaching out and sharing that you have a similar setup and error as well. We haven't nailed down Marco's solution yet, but we'd be happy to help you as well.

Be sure you're working on your local hard drive (typically your C: drive) when creating, editing, and publishing Storyline courses. Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, such as file corruption or an inability to save changes.

I'm curious if the issue happens in any course you are working on or just this particular one? If it's happening in any/all files, you should conduct a repair of your software.
