HELP! Text Entry within Scolling Panel - Text too small

Jun 19, 2015

I am having the most difficult time getting the font on my text entry to be large enough to see on the next slide. Basically, I have a text entry on one slide, then on the next slide the user will compare the approved summary to the one they wrote. I added a scrolling panel and then drug the text entry box over it. So when the user clicks to the next slide they see one side of the slide with the approved summary and one side of the slide with what they typed on the previous page, a side by side comparison. The problem is what they type is so small if it is long and has to scroll that they cannot read it, I want them to be able to scroll side by side and do a comparison...help!!

Hi Ronda!

This thread is a great aid in accomplishing your goal.

1. Insert Text Box

2. Insert Reference in the text box (e.g. reference 'Activity 1')

3. Hit Return many times until the text box size is quite large

4. Insert Scrolling Panel

5. Make sure the Scrolling Panel is placed so that is is sligthly above and to the left of the text box and the bottom edge is inside the bottom edge of the Text Box.

6. Select the Text Box and drag it until the top edge, left and right edges are inside the scrolling panel.

Attaching a file.

Leslie,  Thank you so much for your help, I will try to add it this way and see if it works, however, some of these summaries are so long and it seems that the more I type in the initial text box the smaller the font on the next sceen when doing a comparison.  I reallly want the font to stay large enough to read and just scroll but it seems it gets shrunk...I will continue to play with it.    I do have one more issue I am up against,

When a user types past the text box and the scrolling takes over, they advance to the next slide, do the comparison, then go back to the previous slide to add information the scroll bar appears and they can click on the top row to add but they cannot see what they are adding because the text box shows the last line. To test this just type past the text box until the scroll bar appears then advance to the next slide, then use the previous button to go back, try and type on the first line and you will see that all you can view is the last line, not the top line when you are adding information. Thanks !

Thank you Ashley....I still need to get help with something....When a user types past the text box and the scrolling takes over, they advance to the next slide, do the comparison, then go back to the previous slide to add information the scroll bar appears and they can click on the top row to add but they cannot see what they are adding because the text box shows the last line. Hi Ronda,

If the user clicks to enter text at the beginning of the text box, they're unable to - it's automatically added to the bottom? Or if they scroll up and then just begin typing, they're unable to see what they're typing as the line is at the bottom and the focus doesn't shift to where the typing is occurring? I'm trying to follow your description here, and I'm not sure I understand. If you've got a sample file it may be worth recording a screencast of what you're seeing so that I can determine if it's working as expected or it's something I'll need to do further testing on.

Hi Ronda,

Thanks for sharing the file, and my apologies for not responding earlier. We work 9 - 5 EST normally. I took a look at your file and experienced the same behavior so I'll be sharing this with our QA team for additional review. At this time I don't have any additional information to share, but I'll update you once there is an update.

Hi John,

I'm unable to share any additional information in regards to a timeline or similar but once I do have information to share I'll post here in the forum so that if folks are subscribed or stumble upon this thread they'll see the update.

I have let our QA team know that it's now impacting more than the initial user.

Thanks for reaching out here and please let us know if there is anything else we can do to assist.
