Hide objects on base layer doesn't work properly

When building a training en using layers, I want to hide the objects on the base layer when I show the defined layer.

this layer comes up after using variables.

doing so, Articulate shows all the layer through one another.

Can anyone help me solving this issue?

Using a button to show the layer works fine, but after using variables it doesn't work the way I expected it.

Hi Sjaak,

Are you able to share your .story file here so that we could take a look at how you've set up these layers with variables? If you'd prefer to share privately you're welcome to send to us here. 

Additionally, you shouldn't have to use variables to hide base layer elements, or other slide layer elements unless there are only particular items to hide. As you'll see within the slide layer properties there is an option to hide all the objects on the base layer or other slide layers:
