Hover on Swf/Hotspots

I have a swf that I want the user to be able to click on certain parts of it which will lightbox different slides. Now I know I can just put hotspots over the top in the certain areas to have this work however, I want to show the user some feedback but having certain areas show a glow when they roll over the hot spots. I understand there are no states on a hotspot so I can not change that, I have tried adding a white rectangle behind the swf and adding the hover but you will not see that because the mouse is technically on the swf. Any ideas how to solve this?
Thanks!

Hello Mike,
Have you tried making the rectangle transparent? This should work. You can then add states to the rectangle.
Yes, but to have the glow function work there must be an outline and that doesn't look to good. Thanks
Hello Mike!
You could add the Glow to the Hover state of the shape, that way it will only show when they hover over it.
