How do you direct a user at the end of one branch to the start of an unvisited branch in Storyline 2?

Oct 20, 2016

I have a course that splits into two branches. I don't care which branch the user takes first, but I want to make sure take both branches before going to the end of course slides. I know how add conditions on a slide to limit someone from continuing, but how do I direct someone back to an unvisited track?

Well, not exactly. Maybe branching isn't the right terminology, but in this image on slide 1.3, I have the user choose one of two tracks to go down. I don't care which track they choose first, but I want them to have visited all slides under each of the tracks before getting to the end of course summary slide 1.6 and the course exit slide 1.14.

Hi Paul!

So looks like you may have something for branching on Slide 1.3 - that the user navigates to either 1.4 or 1.5? You could manually set what the 'Next' button does and where it goes so that you can be sure the user follows your intended path and then 1.6 and 1.8 would be set to branch directly to 1.14, right?

I'd set this up in the triggers panel.

Hi Paul,

On Slide 1.3 you could set the Next button to Disabled when the timeline starts. Then add a trigger to change the state of the Next button to Normal when the timeline starts on condition that both of those buttons (the blue and green highlight boxes on 1.3) are visited. You would also have to add a visited state to each of those objects.

From Slide 1.3, the user would branch out to two sections, but return to 1.3 in order to move on. On the last slide for each completed section, make sure the Next button jumps back to slide 1.3.
