How to display answers from non-graded questions on a results screen?

Nov 08, 2023

Hello everyone,

I am trying to make a Storyline interaction about building resiliency for climate activists.  Each screen would present users with a question such as "What activities bring you joy."  Participants would select options from a checklist question (with no right or wrong answer).

At the end, after 4 or 5 questions, I would like for them to see their choices displayed as a sort of personalized "menu" of healthy choices.  If it could be printed and/or emailed, that would be even better.

I have the questions put in (see attached) but I have no idea how to capture their responses.  Do Storyline question responses live in a variable somewhere that I could access?  Or does anyone have any good ideas to point me in the right direction for this?

Thanks so much in advance for any suggestions!

The responses aren't put into variables automatically. But you can track the responses with your own variables. You would adjust the value of the variables based on which items are in the Selected state.

Given the number of potential response per question, you'll need a lot of variables. And providing feedback will be complicated. So plan out in advance just how customized it needs to be.

This post might help. It has info and a demo about tracking custom questions: TIP: Track Responses to Custom Questions or Surveys - Articulate Storyline Discussions - E-Learning Heroes

Another option: create a list of selected items. To do that, you'll need JavaScript. If you search the Forum, you should be able to find info about that.
