How to get Feedback Master Try Again Layer to Auto-Hide

Feb 28, 2014

I'd like a Try Again message to flash on the screen for 2 seconds when a user gets a question wrong. I've adjusted the timeline on the Feedback Slide Master and the specific Try Again layout but it won't work.

Before I got some great advice about adding an off-screen object on the FB Slide Master and setting a trigger to jump to next slide when the object's timeline ends. That works great! But when I tried the same thing but changing to trigger to 'hide layer', it doesn't work.

Now the try again layer has an auto-created Continue button with a hide layer trigger given to it. Is there some way with variables that I could set it to 'clicked' when the timeline ends?

Why am I trying to do this? Because I want to avoid having students make unnecessary clicks. It's tedious and slows things down. I think the submit button is often unnecessary as well if you're dealing with a simple slide with 2 buttons. I want the interface to be smoother like a video game would be.

Thanks for any help.

Hi Bruce,

You mentioned that the "off screen" objuect isn't hiding the layer when it's set to hide based on the timeline ending? This would be the method I would have suggested, and since the continue button is created automatically you could also set it to be based on when the timeline of that object ends, and set them to 2 seconds.
