So I have seen different posts from a while ago about similar problems but I'm new to storyline and still can't figure it out. I want to insert an audio clip of about one minute long on the base layer and I would like that audio clip to continue playing while transitioning to my different slide layers. If someone could help me, I would really appreciate it.
See attached a quick example. Make sure that your slide layers are set to not pause the baselayer's timeline so that the audio on the baselayer keeps playing. Hope that helps.
Unfortunately I can't open the link you attached because it says it was created in a newer version of storyline. But how do I make sure my slide layers are set to not pause the base layer's timeline? Thanks!
I've attached the file. I uploaded audio to the base layer of slide one and I would like it to continue playing as the other two layers are revealed. Thank you!
Hi Kat, I took a quick look at your file - just wondering if you even need to have the 2 layers? Could you just animate the images on layers 1 and 2 to appear on the base layer at the right cue points?
Have a look at the attached and see if that's what you wanted (I updated the first slide). You had the "hide objects on baselayer' option selected which also 'hides'/stopped the baselayer audio.
I'm running into the same problem, and I don't have anything checked related to the base layer. Would someone mind taking a look at mine? I want the user to hear the same continuous audio until they click out of this page or the music ends, whichever comes first. I'm sure this audio doesn't add a lot of value, but I thought I'd give it a try. Thanks!
Thanks for sharing your file here - I'm not sure I'm clear on what you'd like to set up based on what I'm seeing though? I can see that the slide is set to show each layer when clicked, and they all keep the base layer going so the audio continues (there aren't any close layer triggers, so you may want to look at that) and the one layer has a trigger to loop back to this slide - so if you're using the automatically decide or reset to saved state as a part of your slide layer properties, it'll reset them and start the audio over again. I don't see any other options to navigate to other slides though?
I was just trying to figure out the audio part. I just wanted the same audio file to keep playing on this slide if they were clicking around on different hotspots. I didn't want it to keep being reset.
I just changed this and it works fine once I set it to resume saved state on the base layer.
Ah, thanks for clarifying and I'm glad that was able to point you in the right direction albeit unintentionally. You may want to review the information here on working with the slide properties to help you going forward.

Sorry, I'm using Storyline 2. Make sure that the 'Pause timeline of baselayer' is not selected.
Oh okay, but no it wasn't selected.
Hi Kat,
Do you have a file you could share here with us if yours is not working as Michael described?

Michael,
That is exactly what I wanted! How did you do that?

Thanks! I'm learning so much this week!

Thanks, everyone. I had the same issue and this works well.
