Images not displaying
Apr 30, 2013
When I insert an image, it doesn't display correctly. It is cut off and only the top left corner is visible. Very weird. Any ideas? I've attached it an example, but it happens on every .story file I have on my system... ones I've created and ones that were supplied by Storyline. (I'm not sure if this matters, but I'm still on the trial version... I'm planning on purchasing if I can get this resolved. I'm also viewing through Parallels on a Mac--I wish Storyline was Mac-compatible, but that's another post for another time ))

Thanks, Leslie. I submitted a case yesterday. When do you think Iill I hear something back from them?
Hey Josh! I'm not sure what was going on yesterday, but you were one of two (that I'm aware of) where I could not locate cases that were submitted. To save you the hassle, I have submitted one on your behalf (#00358400 for my records) and you should be hearing from someone shortly. I will be following along as well.
thanks. btw... i upgraded to ios7 on my ipad and still have nothing doing.
Leslie,
I have another non-related question:
I'm trying to create a pick-many freeform question. I have six rounded boxes (with text in them), three of which are correct. I've entered all six boxes as potential choices that can be selected and I've checked the ones that are correct. (I viewed the tutorial and think I'm doing everything right.) I even created a state with a red outline around the box when it is selected.
But when I preview and publish, I'm not able to select more than one box at a time, which means I can never get the correct answer. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Josh
forget that. figured it out.
Thanks Josh - let us know if you need anything else!
Hi Josh! I popped in to check on your case and I see where you are working with Regil and thanks for getting your file to him.
Glad you were able to figure out your other issue
Hi Josh,
By any chance did you convert from a pick one to a pick many? If so, there's a slight hitch right now. Storyline "forgets" to remove the button set from the shapes. The way around this is to select the shapes, right-click, and from the shortcut menu choose "none" under Button sets.
If that's not it, perhaps you could upload the slide so the community could take a look.
Quick question. I have a page with multiple layers on it. On one of the layers, I want to put images that play audio when clicked. I've made the images triggers and assigned each with audio. The issue is that when another image is clicked, the audio continues. I'd like the audio from the first image to stop when the second image is clicked. Is that possible?
Thanks,
Josh
Hi Josh,
So it sounds like Image 1/Sound 1 and Image 2/Sound 2 are all on one layer. Here's what I'm thinking will work:
You have a trigger set up: When Learners click Image 1, Sound 1 plays.
Add a trigger to Pause Sound 2 media when user clicks Image 1
You have a trigger set up: When Learners click Image 2, Sound 2 plays
Add a trigger to Pause Sound 1 media when user clicks Image 2
Please shout out with any questions.
that's what i figured. i was just hoping there was a less manual way because have seven clickable images, and users may not click them in any particular order. that means i have to set up six pause triggers for all seven images. is that correct?
Hi Josh,
Yes, you'll need to include pause triggers for each - have you looked at placing just the audio on their own layers that would open when clicked? You'd still have the images accessible from the base layer, but then it would be easier to stop the audio based on when the layer was no longer showing.
yeah... i'm not able to do it like that, but i considered it.
but don't mind me, it wasn't that time-consuming. i was just being a baby. sorry.
No worries Josh - always want to look for the easier way!
Hi there. I'm having an issue with a course once it's hosted on the company's server.
The IT guy says that Chrome and Firefox work fine and seem to launch immediately, but when he tries to launch in IE 11, it wants to load the entire thing before he can continue. It works fine for me (but my computer has some juice), but I asked a friend to check it out and she says it takes 30 seconds to load. Another guy said it took a while, too.
The file is here:

(I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the problem, but I figured I'd let you know that we published to LMS without checking the "Articulate Player" box because the server is password protected, and that is the only way we could get people to view it on their iPads.)
Any advice? Thanks.
Hi Josh,
Thanks for sharing the log in link - I also tried it on Chrome and IE11 and everything played normally and at a pretty good speed. You mentioned these browsers, but you also mentioned the iPad - so I wanted to confirm that for the iPad you're using the mobile Safari browser as documented here.
Any idea if all the IE11 users also have an updated Flash player? Browsers like Chrome have their own flash player built in, but IE11 may need to be updated. You could have them confirm which Flash version they're utilizing by visiting a site such as supportdetails.com and that'll automatically pull the browser and flash version. Additionally, are you aware of any bandwidth issues they may be experiencing in terms of their internet connection?
thanks, ashley. i'll look into it.
got another question: sometimes formatting gets messed up when we open up on different computers (same version... update 6). any workarounds for that?
thanks.
Hi Josh,
If the formatting is changing from computer to computer - I'd look into the following three things:
thanks.
hi there. i'm trying to get into articulate and i'm prompted with a dialogue box that says i need to upgrade to flash 10. (see attachement.) i download flash and install, but still nothing. any ideas? i keep getting the same dialogue box even after it says i successfully upgraded flash. (see attachement).
Hi Josh,
You'll want to download and update to the newest update of Storyline. I couldn't tell from that image alone if you were using Storyline 1 or Storyline 2, so I've included the links for both.
Hi Josh!
Adobe released Flash Player 16 on December 9, 2014 and, as a result, Articulate Storyline won’t open. This issue was fixed in Update 8 for Storyline. See this article for details.
If you have Storyline 2, that update can be found here.
If you also have Articulate Replay, you should install its latest update as well.
worked. thanks.
Glad to hear it Josh! Thanks for sharing :)
