Images not displaying

Apr 30, 2013

When I insert an image, it doesn't display correctly. It is cut off and only the top left corner is visible. Very weird. Any ideas? I've attached it an example, but it happens on every .story file I have on my system... ones I've created and ones that were supplied by Storyline. (I'm not sure if this matters, but I'm still on the trial version... I'm planning on purchasing if I can get this resolved. I'm also viewing through Parallels on a Mac--I wish Storyline was Mac-compatible, but that's another post for another time ))

Leslie,

I have another non-related question:

I'm trying to create a pick-many freeform question. I have six rounded boxes (with text in them), three of which are correct. I've entered all six boxes as potential choices that can be selected and I've checked the ones that are correct. (I viewed the tutorial and think I'm doing everything right.) I even created a state with a red outline around the box when it is selected.

But when I preview and publish, I'm not able to select more than one box at a time, which means I can never get the correct answer. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Josh

Hi Josh,

By any chance did you convert from a pick one to a pick many? If so, there's a slight hitch right now. Storyline "forgets" to remove the button set from the shapes. The way around this is to select the shapes, right-click, and from the shortcut menu choose "none" under Button sets.

If that's not it, perhaps you could upload the slide so the community could take a look.

Quick question. I have a page with multiple layers on it. On one of the layers, I want to put images that play audio when clicked. I've made the images triggers and assigned each with audio. The issue is that when another image is clicked, the audio continues. I'd like the audio from the first image to stop when the second image is clicked. Is that possible?

Thanks,

Josh

Hi Josh,

So it sounds like Image 1/Sound 1 and Image 2/Sound 2 are all on one layer. Here's what I'm thinking will work:

You have a trigger set up: When Learners click Image 1, Sound 1 plays.

Add a trigger to Pause Sound 2 media when user clicks Image 1

You have a trigger set up: When Learners click Image 2, Sound 2 plays

Add a trigger to Pause Sound 1 media when user clicks Image 2

Please shout out with any questions.

Hi there. I'm having an issue with a course once it's hosted on the company's server.

The IT guy says that Chrome and Firefox work fine and seem to launch immediately, but when he tries to launch in IE 11, it wants to load the entire thing before he can continue. It works fine for me (but my computer has some juice), but I asked a friend to check it out and she says it takes 30 seconds to load. Another guy said it took a while, too.

The file is here:

(I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the problem, but I figured I'd let you know that we published to LMS without checking the "Articulate Player" box because the server is password protected, and that is the only way we could get people to view it on their iPads.)

Any advice? Thanks.

Hi Josh,

Thanks for sharing the log in link - I also tried it on Chrome and IE11 and everything played normally and at a pretty good speed. You mentioned these browsers, but you also mentioned the iPad - so I wanted to confirm that for the iPad you're using the mobile Safari browser as documented here.

Any idea if all the IE11 users also have an updated Flash player? Browsers like Chrome have their own flash player built in, but IE11 may need to be updated. You could have them confirm which Flash version they're utilizing by visiting a site such as supportdetails.com and that'll automatically pull the browser and flash version. Additionally, are you aware of any bandwidth issues they may be experiencing in terms of their internet connection?

Hi Josh,

If the formatting is changing from computer to computer - I'd look into the following three things:

  • What is the DPI setting on each computer? You'll want it set to 96 DPI as described here.
  • What is the slide zoom everyone is viewing it at? They should be viewing it at 100% zoom.
  • Is everyone downloading and opening the file on a local drive? Working off a network drive could cause display issues.
