Imported engage into storyline, how ensure all parts are viewed?

Apr 16, 2013

Hello, quick question:

I have imported a Studio 09 Engage interaction into my storyline project. I must have the learners see all the specific interactions in that engage interaction before they can click next in Storyline. How can I do that?

Triggers are not working as they seem to be 2 separate software programs that don't relate to each other's commands. I can set the imported Engage interaction to view all components before they can click next, but storyline can't read that and presents the usual skin "Next tab" they can click on and bypass the enguage rule.

Thanks for your help my fellow designers.

Hi Tarek,

There really isn't a built-in way to restrict the navigation of Engage interactions that are inserted into Storyline. However, there are a few forum threads on this topic that may help you out with this.

Have a look:

I have tried all of these things, and I can lock down my tabs, but I have a need to take this discussion a step further.  My tabs each play a layer with audio.  Not only do I need them to select each tab, but I need them to listen to each tab layer in full before they can select the next tab.  I tried using a hotspot, but it adds a new problem, I can play 3 of the 4 tabs and then it hangs.  Can you tell us how to ensure each tab is completed before the next can be selected, and the next button only works when every timeline has been viewed on that slide?

Hi, Sandie -- Many thanks for reaching out with your question! And as you've noted none of the previously suggested ideas did the trick for you, would it be possible for you to share your file so we can take a look at how things are currently set? You are welcome to upload here, and the community will be able to share their ideas as well, or if privacy is a concern, here is the form you'd need to share for confidential review

Christie,

I figured it out. I can’t send you the file, its airline pilot secure training.

Once a use a variable, I have to reset it on the next slide if I want to use it again, I guess. That worked at least.

Thanks,
