Insert > Mouse Tutorial?

Are there any tutorials for using the Insert> Mouse feature?  Specifically, I'm curious about editing the fly-in swoop that the mouse cursor does.  It appears to change with some dragging, though I haven't found the tricks for making it start and stop where I want it to. 

Also, is that a regular mouse arrow?  Meaning, is there a way to use it and click it in a slide?  Or to use it to activate hover states? 

I see that I can change the timing of the fly-in, but not the length of time the mouse is on the screen.  And only one cursor can be inserted per screen (apparently), while no cursors can be inserted on layers. 

But since this is all my hit-and-miss experimentation, I'd love to see an official tutorial on this feature.
