I have a large video (2.36 GB) that is in .mp4 format. When I attempt to insert it into Storyline 2, I get a message "...does not appear to be a supported video format. Please select a video from one of the supported formats."
Since .mp4 is a supported format, I wonder if this is a size limitation instead? If so, is there a way around this?
Storyline doesn't have a file size maximum or limitation - but if your system isn't equipped to handle process that large of a file into Storyline that may be where you're seeing the issue. You could try with a smaller file or look at ways in which you could compress the video prior to inserting.
As Julie mentioned, larger files can cause issues with inserting into Storyline, once you go to publish and for users to begin playing it - so hosting it on another video server is a way around those areas and will likely provide for a better viewing experience for your users.
Happy to hear it - and just an FYI that responding via email includes your signature here. You can edit the post if you'd like to remove that information.
I have similar issue video/audio issue. I inserted a relatively large .mp4 file (750MB) on its own slide, however the audio doesn't play along with the video. Suggestions?
Hi, Bart -- Thanks for reaching out here and sorry for your troubles! May I ask if the audio does not play at all or are you finding that it play, but is not syncing/timing properly with the video? And have you had a chance to test your published output in the intended environment to see how it behaves there? Here also is some information on Video Compression in Storyline 2 in case that may be helpful, as well.
Thanks Christie. It was playing video but no audio. And not sure what I did, but got it working on my iPad, both with imported video and with using the web object/youtube option. I appreciate the tips, as I may still need! Thanks! Bart

Hi Kimberly,
I'm thinking it's the size. When videos get that large, I host them externally on a server such as Vimeo and then embed it into Storyline.
Cheers,
Julie

Thank you both for the quick replies! We adjusted the size and all is well!
