Invisible player
Aug 10, 2017
So we have been creating an invisible player in storyline and are changing the background on our LMS to blend with the background of the module.
However there still seems to be a thin white line around the slide content area, not around where the player border would be. (I have attached an image showing the issue)
The base >>> Main Background, Main Border, Left Separator, Right Separator, Left Pane Background and Slide Background have already had their transparency set to 100% in the player color options.

Hi there Christian,
Really helpful screenshot--thank you! I've seen something similar happen with Storyline 360 when...
Does that seem to match the settings in your file?
Yes the player is scaled, and yes this is viewing the HTML5.
Hope there is a solution to this.
Thanks for confirming, Christian. Our team is working through this issue, and I'll tag this thread to be updated once we get more information.
In the meantime, you can avoid the white line by locking the player at its optimal size.
Thanks again for letting us know that you ran into this bug, and I'm really sorry it's causing headaches!
Locking the player size did not fix the problem, we have been able to remove it using Javascript to hide the element in HTML but that is not a preferred solution.
Thanks for letting me know that workaround didn't work for you, Christian. I'll be sure to update our report with that information!
Hi all,
We released an update for Storyline 360 this AM, which fixed an issue where white lines could appear around slides and the logo might be blurry when a course scaled to fill the browser window.
Take a look at the details here to install the latest update.
Please let us know if you have any questions, either here or by reaching out to our Support Engineers directly.
Note: This fix is available for Storyline 360 and will be included in the next update/release of Storyline 3 - date TBD. We'll share information here once that's available.
I just installed the latest update (Build 3.17.16168.0) this morning and these thin white lines are appearing on my published output as well. I've attached before and after pictures. Note the white lines on the bottom and right sides of the content in the "AfterUpdate" attachment.
It's unattractive and appears in both the published output and preview mode.
All was normal before I installed this update. Note that I never installed Build 3.17.16117.0...I jumped straight from Build 3.16.15842.0 to Build 3.17.16168.0. I also didn't make any changes to my player colors.
Also:
NOTE: It looks normal when playing the Flash output in IE11.
I'm really sorry you ran into that, Christin. We have a report filed for this behavior, so I'm going to add your notes there. I'll tag this discussion so we can update you here as well with any new information.
We are also experiencing this issue. I'm jumping in so I get updates for this resolution.
Thanks, Andrea. You should now be subscribed to the discussion and see any updates we share here in your email inbox.
We'll let you know as soon as we can!
Hi Ashley,
We plan to launch our video on 7/30. Any chance this fix could be ready by then?
Thanks,
Andrea
Hi Andrea,
I don't have an ETA on this fix yet, but as soon as we know more we'll post in this discussion. I did see another user noted it was only appearing on their 4K monitor, but the 1080p resolution didn't show the white line. Did you notice any difference in this with your testing?
I can confirm this issue is appearing with my standard monitor. Resolution is 1920 x 1080.
Thanks for confirming Christin. I'll add this note.
Any update for this?
Thanks for checking in, Holly. Our team has our eye on this issue, and we're treating it as a priority. Right now the timeline for this fix is a moving target since we will be continuously testing to ensure it works as it should. You're in the right place to stay up-to-date on our progress.
We have the same problem at our organization.
