Is Storyline 3 being neglected?

Dec 08, 2017

Hi all,

I absolutely love the inclusive nature of this forum - it has proved instrumental in helping me get to grips with Storyline.  In fact, I became so confident with Storyline 2 that I decided to upgrade to the 3rd iteration.  However, one thing I have noticed is that nearly everything now exemplified on this forum concerns the 360 package.  Little is championed about Storyline 3, and very little is shared in terms of templates or examples for the software.  Why is this?  It seems that the tide is such that there is little point in being proud about Storyline 3.  I almost feel like I have wasted my money and feel very disappointed.  Some of us don't want to lock ourselves into a yearly description but at the same time don't want to feel like we have purchased an inferior product.  I'd be interested to know what other people feel about this.  Thanks very much.

Best regards,

Mr S

Hi Mr. S.  Thanks for your thoughtful post.  I'm sorry you feel a lack of excitement for Storyline 3.  We were thrilled to offer another perpetual version of Storyline since Articulate 360 might not fit everyone's needs.

Check out all the cool features that Storyline 3 has added!  There is also a comparison to Storyline 360.  Because Storyline 360 is part of the Articulate 360 subscription, it receives continuous updates with new features on a pretty speedy release cycle  -- as you can imagine, that causes a lot of chatter.  😊

If you are looking for some examples to use in your own projects, check out our Downloads page!  Storyline 360 project files can be opened with Storyline 3 if they don’t have the following features, which are exclusive to Storyline 360:

  • Text-to-Speech Narration
  • Random Number Variables

Let me know if there's anything else I can do to help, and of course, the floor is open for others' experiences with Storyline 3 as well!
