Issue with getting feedback on Drag and Drop activity

Mar 26, 2019

Hi everyone,

I'm very new to Articulate Storyline and really trying to find my feet with it.  I'm currently putting together a drag and drop activity but facing two problems.

1. I can't seem to figure out how I get my feedback layers (correct and incorrect) to show once the user clicks 'submit' on completion of the activity.

2. I'd like the incorrect answers to return to their original position if possible.

I've attached my slide if anyone can help please?

Thanks

Steph

Hi Steph,

Welcome to the world of Storyline!

Just had a look at this for you and it looks like it's because the Correct/Incorrect layers were custom layers so the question slide was not picking them up.

I duplicated your slide, removed the freeform and then re-added the drag and drop function. I changed the Correct & Incorrect layers to your design but would be better to be done in the Feedback masters to save time.

In regards to your 2nd point, I haven't seen an easy solution, I know it's something people have discussed within the community over the past 5 years but not seen a fix for. There are some work arounds using motion paths, triggers etc but I think majority tend to go with a couple of attempts and if they still get it wrong then on the Incorrect layer, you can have a button to show the correct answers and then on a new layer, you can show the learner what answers went with the correct icon etc.

Hope this helps a little.

Hi Steph,

For the layers, it looks like the name change you'd applied to the "Not Quite" layer is tripping this up. I reset that to "Incorrect" on the layer title only - not on the layer as the learner would see it. That resolves the layers showing.

As for the snapping back, the slide does not reset automatically so that the learners can see where they had dropped items. Since you're using the dropped correct/incorrect states you'll also see those color changes and they'd only need to move the incorrect ones.
