Issues with animations and screen view.
Aug 09, 2017
Help!
I am creating some templates to use for a client and have the following issues:
1. Slide 1 (petals) looks fine in the story, the preview, and the published... but my reviewer was complaining about the boxes around the text. Screen shot attached. They are viewing in Safari (Mac) - but I have no idea how many of their employees use Safari.
2. The animations between slide 2 & 3 are exactly the same, however they look different when published. The text sticks with the box on one, but doesn't with the other.
Please help! I have spent enough time playing with this and need another opinion.
thanks.

Hi Natalie,
Thanks for sharing your file with me! Here's a quick Peek recording of my testing in Safari.
Thanks Alyssa. The client has just sent me screen shots of how the review is behaving differently in Safari across the board. Has there been any known issues of Safari and Storyline having a personality conflict? I have asked them to try it in Chrome to compare.
So, at the moment Safari is creating an issue for me. I'm not having any other complaints in any other browser.
Hi Natalie,
The latest version of Safari is supported for Storyline 360, so I wouldn't expect there to be a big conflict there. Can you tell me more about how it's behaving differently across the board?
Also, did you have a chance to take a look at how it performed in Safari for me? Click here to view the Peek screen recording.
Thanks Alyssa. They are using version 10.1.2 which is the latest version.
in regards to the difference in behaviour - The submenu tab 5 the words seem to roll in with the shape (which makes sense as the text is within the shape and not separate). In the layer version, the shape seems to roll over the text. It's almost like the text is already there and the shape reveals that.
I seem to think that it's a trick of the eye - but the client is insistent that it's not.
Hi Natalie,
If I look really closely, I can see that the icons appear about a half a second before they should on this slide, but the same thing happens in all browsers, not just Safari.
That is happening because the icon and the tab are two separate objects within a group. I would move the icon one or two places further down the timeline to better synchronize the animation.
HI Alyssa. Another one for you (attached). The Storyline file is correct, the articulate review is correct, viewing it on chrome is correct. However viewing it on Safari moves the picture infront of my navigation icons.
AUGH!
Hey Natalie,
Sorry you're seeing that in safari!
Do you have an updated version of your .story I could take a look at? I'm happy to continue investigating with you.
You can add it as an attachment right to a comment here in the thread.
Thanks!
Hi Natalie, thanks for the screenshot! That's definitely odd. It looks like the version of the file you're viewing is different than the version I'm testing here. Could you share a sample file that contains the slide in your screenshot? Thanks!
Hi Ali and Alyssa. Sorry - I"m in Aussie land, so we have a severe lag when it comes to responding.
I am creating multiple story files for a client, so there are about 6 different ones on the go. Therefore I cannot upload the files (as they are large) and they are also client confidential. I have 3 reviewers, and 1 of them is on a mac using Safari. They are the only one who are finding these issues and are sending me screenshots of the files. Everyone else doesn't have this problem. So it's not the story file itself. They are using the most updated version of safari.
I'm worried that some of their students will also be using safari and it will make the packages look like a 6 year old created them, and I certainly don't want to put a note at the beginning of each story file to advise not to use Safari as that makes Storyline look crappy :(
Hi there Natalie,
No worries about the time difference! We've got lots of community members from Australia, and we love that we get to chat with folks all over the world!
I completely understand about wanting to keep the project confidential. Would it be possible to create a copy of the file with this slide, then delete all slides except for this slide below? Then, you can send the slide to us privately by clicking here.
