Issues with course while playing on a tab

Mar 25, 2014

Hi,

We are having various issues while viewing course on a tab (Android 4.2 Jelly Bean).

We are using the latest storyline version: Update 5 Build 1401.2415. Following is the list of issues:

·         No audio throughout the course

·         On replay, the screen elements or the entire screen disappears randomly with the seekbar still in progress. Same problem exists while revisiting the slides from the Menu.

·         Markers not appearing

·         Each slides takes time for loading

·         Menu collapses or menu items disappear randomly

·         Demo (Captivate file published as .mp4) is not playing

We're publishing to HTML5 output without mobile player option.

Is this due to bugs/limitations in the authoring tool? Is there any solution/workaround?

Your prompt assistance will be much appreciated.

Hi Vasim:

The issues you mention are known HTML5 issues:

For your audio issue, this is because you are playing a MP4 while also playing audio. All mobile devices can only play one at a time. This is by design for mobile networking bandwidth optimization.

For you other issues, you will need to go to http://www.articulate.com/support/contact/submit.php and submit a ticket. Reference this thread in the process.

Hi Vasim:

By "a tab", my asumption was mobile tablet in general (Android, BB, whatever). The issues in Storyline related to any tablet other than iPad, are noted with Articulate, and there are still many issues. Most tablets have a HTML5 compliant browser installed and SL will default to story_html5.html to run them. Even if Flash is installed on the table, you will still run the HTML5 version by default.

Check this search result and you will see more information related... http://community.articulate.com/search/SearchResults.aspx?g=html5

I hope this clarifies what i described earlier.

Hi Vasim,

We don't currently support Android devices, but if you're seeing any of these behaviors on an iPad, or while viewing on your desktop/laptop we're happy to take a look. You can use the link Dennis previously shared to connect with our Support engineers or you're welcome to share the file here in the forums for us to look at.
