Issues with Rendering? (icons/scrolling/interactivity)

Jan 29, 2021

Hello,

I have had multiple situations now where I have re-opened a file that I created (to make edits) to find that icons that I had previously input do not look right, are not clickable or have moved. See image below with explanation.

Here you see how it looks once I redo it in Storyline and preview it. It looks good. Then I publish and this is what happens.

the www/computer icon looks like this when published.

This has happened to both myself and my colleague (in different files). A file that previously published fine ends up getting glitchy. Then we have to go through every slide, check every since icon, interactive or shape; replacing them generally does not work so we have been at a stand still. The shapes move around, sometimes becoming hard to click, so we must delete everything and start over. This is not a workable solution.

I am hoping that if anyone else has had these issues, they can provide help. Is this an issue with the updated storyline version, or rendering, or has the discontinuation of flash impacted something?

Sincerely,

Erin, a frustrated User

Hi Erin,

Thanks for walking us through the problem! Correcting misplaced objects is frustrating, and I'd love to help you get to the bottom of it.

First, I'll include our best practices for sharing a Storyline project with other developers:

Because the glitchiness happens in multiple files and the issues weren't present initially, file corruption might be the cause.

Next, since multiple files are affected, a fresh installation of Storyline 360 could do the trick. Here's how.

Let me know if those tactics don't help. We'll keep digging!
