Issues with Storyline contnt on mobile devices

Feb 09, 2018

I’m new to Articulate Storyline 360, and it appears that Storyline-made courses use some kind of page loader when  first launched. Our LMS is Corner Stone On Demand, and this page loader is behaving weird when I test a course on a mobile device. When launching the course via the Cornerstone mobile app on an iPad, a blank video page opens up which I have to close to get to the course (if the app doesn’t crash).  When testing the course using cloud.scorm.cloud on  an android phone,  the course opens a black screen which displays the course title and two buttons: “continue” and “restart”. If select “continue” things work fine.

I’ve published as HTML5 only and HTML with flash fallback and AMP. Does anyone know what’s going on and what I’m doing wrong? FYI, we’ve tested Rise-made content and that works fine.

Hi Kevin,

I don't have experience with the Cornerstone On Demand mobile app, but what your describing sounds like the launching page you might see on an iOS device.  Is it a black screen with a play button in the middle that launches the content?

For SCORM Cloud, did you see the prompt to resume (continue or restart) the very first time that you tested it on your Android phone?  I would only expect that option to appear if you had viewed it once already.

You shouldn't need to use the Articulate Mobile Player unless you want to offer your users the option to download the course for offline viewing.  The new responsive player design handles playback on your mobile devices, so I would consider leaving that box unchecked, especially for your LMS courses.

Hi again, Kevin.  If you need more time with the trial until the purchase is settled, please feel free to reach out to our sales team!  We want to be sure you have the time you need to fully evaluate 360.

Colleen, can you send me a screenshot of what you're seeing on your mobile device?  Also, did you also have a chance to host your output on SCORM Cloud to see how it behaves there?  I'm happy to help work through this issue!
