Keeping mouse over content on screen
Sep 18, 2014
Hi everyone,
I'm relatively new to Storyline having been lucky enough to get back into course development after years away. I really like the program and it takes me no time at all to create content compared to when I think back to the old Authorware days.
I hope that this is a simple one to answer. I have a page where there's 3 images and I get the learner to mouse over each one to see text content. This has been a breeze to do in Storyline with layers and triggers, but I'd like it so that when the learner hovers over each image the displayed content stays on the screen rather than disappearing as soon as you move the mouse onto one of over the images. I must be missing something but can't seem to find what setting it would be.
Thanks for your help
Andy

Hello Andy, and welcome to Heroes!
When you are setting up the trigger for "mouse hovered over" there is a check box for "restore on mouse leave" Just deselect this if you want the content to stay on the screen.

Hello Emily,
Thanks for your reply. I'm not sure whether I explained myself very well. I want the text to appear and stay on the screen for each image so the final result will be that when the learner hovered over all 3 images all 3 pieces of text will appear on the screen. Deselecting the Restore on Mouse Leave only allows the text to stay on until the point you hover on another hotspot.
I've attached a slimmed down version of what I want to achieve. Slide one is the interactive slide and slide 2 shows the desired result.
Many thanks
Andy
Doh - here's the file
Is this correct?
Set the textboxes to Hidden.
Then on the pictures/hotspots
Change state of Text box 1 to Normal when user hover mouse over.
Remove "Restore on exit"
Thanks Morten,
That's exactly the effect I wanted. Now I need to work out how you did it.
Thanks again - much appreciated
Andy
Thanks for the update Andy,
Glad you got the effect to work!
Hi guys thanks Morten and Andy for this - it's exactly what I was looking for how awesome I was sure the program would be able to do it and you showed me how yaay!
