Keyboard Trigger in HTML 5

Feb 22, 2018

Hi,

Not sure if anyone else has the same issue (can't see any other discussions). But I am having an issue with keyboard triggers when viewing our courses in HTML 5  (course can be skipped, even if the trigger is at the end of the slide).

As you can see in the screenshot, we have a custom 'next' arrow which appears once the content has finished. This arrow has a click trigger and a key press trigger.

The issue we are getting is that when viewing the course in HTML 5 (desktop) it seems that the key press trigger is available throughout the timeline and the user can skip through pages at will, not just at the end of a page, like it should.

This is not an issue in Flash, and I have tested this without the key press trigger and the user can't skip through pages. We need the functionality of key presses, so hopefully Storyline are aware of this issue or will be able to fix this issue in an update for Storyline 2.

Thanks
Andy

Really sorry you're running into this trigger issue in the HTML5 output, Andy!

I'm happy to lend a hand, and have a few questions to start:

  • What version of Storyline 2 are you using?
  • Did you publish the course for Web, LMS, or something else?
  • Would you be able to send me your .story file for testing? You can add it as a comment clicking on Add Attachment below, or you can share it privately here.

Thanks, Andy!

When I used the same Storyline 2 build to test the HTML5 output in Chrome, I could not skip through the slides and saw the red press trigger only appear right after the content was finished. Here's a Peek of what I saw.

I'm also unable to recreate the issue after uploading the output to SCORM Cloud. Could you please test this link and let me know if you see anything uncanny there?

I'll be standing by!

HI,

Thanks for testing this...

Are you using a the keyboard 'right arrow' key? This is where our issue is, with the keyboard triggers. And I can still replicate this with the SCORM link you sent.

This is a HTML5 issue so is only an issue when viewing the course in HTML 5 not flash, Hopefully you can replicate this!

Thanks again

Andy
