"Launch" button problem when viewing a Published Storyline file
Aug 21, 2012
Hello, all –
I occasionally publish my Storyline files as I am working on to look at them, since the Published version sometimes has slight differences from the Preview version.
I installed Update 1 recently, and noticed that now when I Publish a file – the publish processing takes place. However, if I click the “VIEW PROJECT” button I get a display of an orange “Launch” icon on an otherwise blank screen ... and when I click the “Launch” button – I get an "Error on page" message at the bottom of the display window and the project doesn’t display. Note: I can still Preview files and they still look OK.
I found that if I remove "launcher.html" from the end of the URL listing that is triggered when you click the VIEW PROJECT button, the published file is viewable (or you can click the “story.swf” file where you published the project, and it displays). My suspicion is that Launch button situation may be related to Update 1.
Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a better way to work around it? Thanks!

Hello, all -
I was able to remove the "Launch" button by unchecking the "Launch to separate window" field in the Player Properties.
I'm still on a learning curve, but very happy to have the Storyline application!
Best regards
I still get an Error when clicking the Launch Button ("...communication with LMS..."). I tend to suspect a programming error (?) since the command that automatcly opens a new window works properly.
Any Ideas?
Hi Erik
Does your LMS automatically force it into a new browser window and did you choose that setting in Storyline? If so, that could be causing the error and you can let your LMS handle opening it in a new window. You'll see older discussions with the same error.
I just ran into this problem also. Yes, just decide in your LMS if you are going to launch new window or not.
Hi Helena!
I cannot view your file, but sounds like you are just popping in to reinforce what Ashley shared above. Thank you for your assistance.
