Likert Scale response to email

Jul 29, 2014

Hi, just wondering where Likert Scales "submit to" please? Is it possible to submit the responses to an email address? Where do the responses go when the user hits "submit"? I want to use it as an evaluation tool. Thank you.

Hi Leanne and welcome to Heroes!

For any quiz or survey questions, you'd need to have an LMS to track the answers and provide reports. You'll want to check in with your LMS team regarding what the options are for reporting out on Storyline data, but here is what Storyline will send. You may find that learners' responses to Likert survey questions aren't reported to your learning management system (LMS) or Articulate Online. This is a known issue where cmi.interactions data for Likert questions isn't being sent to the LMS. We'll post more information here once it's available.

Hi all,

I'd like to use a Likert quiz slide for pre-module self assessments. I'm using Storyline 2 - do you know if the individual answers will speak to my LMS?

I've never used the Likert in this way before and would want the answers to each individual question. Would I have to put each questions on a separate slide? We don't want to force them through an additional 10 slides, so whatever we can do to reduce slide numbers would be handy. If I had multiple questions with likert scales on one slide could I get the answers to each one sent to my LMS? We use Totara.

Hi Courtney,

The data of the likert scale should be reported to your LMS, but you may want to do a test course to confirm that you're able to pull the data from there as you'd like since each LMS can be a bit different. You could also look at testing the course by uploading to SCORM Cloud which is an industry standard for testing SCORM content. There is an article here on how to troubleshoot with SCORM Cloud.

Hope that helps!

Hi Ashley,

Thanks for this info. Is it possible to have a Likert scale pre and post assessment evaluation as well as a learning check at the end of the module? I'm not sure how to set tracking and reporting for both or if that's even possible in Storyline and Totara. Any advice? I'm new at this and not sure what is even possible with regards to Likert and learning checks combined.

Hi Courtney,

It depends on how you want to track and report on all these elements. Storyline only supports one tracking/reporting method - so it would have to be one results slide that tracked all elements and reported to your LMS. If you're using Likert questions (and other non graded questions) it shouldn't be a problem as it won't impact a score. But if you need to score your pre/post assessment you may want to review the information here in regards to tracking multiple SCOs or look for similar information in the forums for pre/post assessment as it's not something that I can offer support for.

Hope that helps and best of luck with your project!

Hi Ashley,

Thanks for the advice. We want to track the score of the learning check at the end of the module because that decides if they have coimpleted the module or not (they must get at least 80 to be deemed complete). We also want to track the responses to each Likert question (it's a pre/post module knowledge check) to see if they've improved their knowledge. We need to do this for reporting purposes, i.e. "80% of learners reported an increase in knowledge in skills. "

Can we track the score to individual Likert questions and a score to a 8-10 question learning check?

Hi Courtney,

The likert won't have a score associated with it as it's a survey question - so you could include it as a part of the results slide that is tracking your overall quiz scores (wasn't sure if you were using a quiz or the likert as the pre/post assessment). You may want to make a sample course with just a likert and a few questions to see how it reports to your LMS and if you're able to pull data for all the things the user answers. I know that some LMSs don't report well with the Likert style survey questions.
