My company has a new version of our proprietary software about to launch. A client requirement is to be able to access software help as needed, without going back to the entire elearning course to review it. I'm wondering if there is a way to hyperlink back to a specific slide within the published Storyline course, as we will have many video tutorials that the client can watch.
Just a total shot in the dark, as I haven't tried this...
If each URL to the course included something like "?topic=1" to indicate the different sections of the course (added at the end of the story.html link), and you wrote a script for the Execute Javascript trigger on page one (like $_GET['topic']), could that variable be passed to Storyline as a variable, which would then trigger a Jump to slide function based on what the variable is?
Long shot, but not sure if that Execute Javascript runs on it's own or can be passed on to Storyline (however those variables are stored).
I know, probably not much help, but would be sweet if it worked.
Thanks Chris! Completely Greek to me as I'm not a programmer in any way, shape, or form! However, I will certainly pass along to the developers at work and see if we can give this a try!
There's possibly a way to do it using Presenter (not Storyline). If your content is all on a single slide, you can actually point to that .swf file within your published content and run ONLY that SWF file by itself.
Again, not much help with Storyline, but I can't think of another way to jump to a specific page from an outside URL without creating a main menu page with direct links to specific parts of the course you want, and instructing the user before launching the course that they want to select the button that says 'Section 3" (or whatever) when the course opens to jump to the specific section content.
