LMS tracking popups in AICC

Nov 15, 2012

Hello,

I am building an AICC compatible course for use on both laptop and iPad. Is there any way to track completion outside of a quiz. For example, I would like to track popups (or screens if that's not possible) and display a check mark once viewed. Can this be done non-linearly, e.g. if screens 1,3,5 are viewed, then the user leaves and comes back, can I display check marks on those popups/screens?

I generally develop the front-end of courses, so if anyone could lend a hand with this back end component I would be deeply thankful.

Not exactly, unless the variables you use in a "session" are stored and are the same values when you come back. For example, when the user clicks the close button on their browser or exits your course, what happens to those variables? From what I understand each slide can be tracked, how do I retrieve this data from the LMS if I publish an AICC compatible course from Storyline?

Thanks for the quick reply Peter. It's unfortunate that you cannot report vars to an LMS in Storyline but this workaround might work for my situation. I will have to test it out and get back to you.

The slides are obviously tracked because they change color in the menu. There has to be a way to access this data, perhaps with javascript?
