Markers showing over other objects after markers "opened"

Hi all,
I've encountered an apparent glitch where a marker is re-ordered to the front of a slide once its label has been opened (either by hover or click). It's problematic because I have an image next to the marker that is enlarged when a user clicks on it, using the "Selected" state. If the user has hovered over or clicked the marker, the marker appears on top of the enlarged image.
Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions for a fix?
For example, hover over the marker on the slide at the following link, then click the image next to it and notice that the marker is on top of the enlarged image:

Hi Wiles!
If you utilize an actual zoom image feature, the marker will go to the background as expected when the image is zoomed. I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for.
Thanks, Leslie. That's a potential workaround. Ideally I was hoping for a solution for the instances where the built-in zoom feature isn't appropriate and I have to use states. Does that exist?
I'll ask the team if that's by design, but in the meantime I'm attaching a couple of other variations :) Zoom feature or layers may work for you.
