I've set up a matching drop-down questions in Storyline 2. In preview mode the drop-down menu displays the instruction --Select-- but when published it displays the same first answer on the drop-down list for all questions on the slide. Any idea how to make the drop-down menu display --Select-- once published?
Are you using Chrome to test the published output with HTML5? We are aware of an issue where matching drop-down answer choices display the first answer choice instead of --Select-- when the content is viewed with Chrome in HTML5.Does that description seem to match what you're seeing?
Thanks for confirming that, Sarah. Unfortunately I can't offer a timeframe for a fix, but I'll certainly add this discussion thread to the report. Once we receive an update from Quality Assurance, I'll come back and share that information here. You'll receive an email notification because you're now subscribed to this post.
You're in the right place. Adding your voice here gives us a better idea of how many folks are experiencing this bug and how often they encounter it. That info helps us prioritize our development resources. We’re still working on this bug, and we’ll definitely let you know when we know more.
I'll add my voice here as well just to keep up with the future update for this issue. We just discovered yesterday this issue with the matching question. I use Storyline2.
By curiosity, does anyone found a work around to this in the meantime?
I'm sorry you've run into this issue. The current workarounds are to either use the Flash output only or to avoid using Chrome when viewing the course.
We're still keeping an eye on this bug to evaluate how many customers are impacted and what impact it has on courses. The number of customers and depth of impact are two of the elements that help us prioritize bugs and fixes.
Thanks so much for sharing your experience here-- you'll now be notified of any news we have about this issue!
We require this feature as well for our users who are in Chrome. We're using Storyline 2 and it confuses our learners to see the first choice shown in the dropdown instead of "Select ..." We'd appreciate the added capability.
I completely understand, Brenna, and I apologize that this is confusing for your learners. We're continuing to monitor this bug in how many customers are impacted and what impact it has on courses. The number of customers and depth of impact are two of the elements that help us prioritize bugs and fixes.
I am using Storyline 2, and this is the first instance where I have experienced this bug. The problem is that my elearn needs to be released very soon. It appears that this issue was brought to light long ago -- IS THERE A FIX FORTHCOMING???
I'm sorry this bug is affecting you too, Lisa. We're still monitoring the impact of this bug as we prioritize future fixes. You're in the right place to stay up to date on this bug's progress.
Our company is having us go back and redo several eLearnings where these interactions were used. Has a fix been created yet? There are a few instances where this type of interaction is really best suited for the information. Flash has been being phased out for at least a year, I really hope there's a fix soon. If there's not, will you get rid of that interaction? It seems like you wouldn't want to have an option that consistently doesn't work being used.
Sorry to hear you've been affected by this as well. Are you using Storyline 2 as well and experiencing an issue with the matching drop down displaying the first answer versus --Select-- in HTML5 output in Chrome?
Hi Deanna. Thanks for adding your voice. That sounds like a lot of work, and I'm sorry that you're dealing with that task.
There's nothing new to report right now. We are unlikely to remove this interaction from the quizzing choices since it still works in IE, Firefox, and Chrome with Flash Player enabled; or Safari with or without Flash Player.
Hi, I had the same issue when I was using Storyline 2 and output to Chrome! It was very frustrating and confusing for learners. Surely enough people have reported the issue for you to do something about it....how many people do you need to report the issue before you do something about it?
First, my apologies! It looks like we missed your reply here.
The vast majority of our customers are using Articulate 360, so that’s where we’re putting our focus. We’re also delivering periodic updates for Storyline 3, the most current perpetual version of Storyline.
The issue discussed here is fixed in Storyline 3 and Storyline 360. I published a quick test to Review 360 so you could see it in action. If you have any questions about how to upgrade to Storyline 3 or Articulate 360, please feel free to connect with our Sales team.

I've discovered the same issue. Is there a way to submit a bug so this issue can take priority?
Thanks!
