Moving to next Scene after multiple choice quiz interaction

Apr 24, 2013

Hello all

I have a storyline project with 3 scenes. The first two scenes ends with a 6-8 multiple choice quiz slides. At the end of the last quiz slide on the first two scenes, once answered, I would like the user to advance to the first slide of the subsequent scene. The multiple choice questions are setup with infinite tries and once correct and the user clicks on the okay button, I would like it to continue to the next scene. Any help would be appreciated.

There are several ways to accomplish this, all of which involve a trigger that points to the next slide.  I think the easiest way is to go to the 'Correct' layer and change the trigger on the continue button to point to the first slide of the next scene (instead of the default 'next slide').  This of course assumes you are using the default feedback layers.

Otherwise you could create your own continue button that includes a similar trigger.

Ok I am new to this but I have been dead in the water with my project. I cannot enter a multiple choice question. I place all the information in hit save and close and I continually get an error pop up box indicating an error has occurred which  may result in the program closing along with a half populated slide. I am using windows 8 and have put half a day creating a quiz and now all for naught.  Please help!

Hi Meri, welcome to the community

You'll want to be sure you're following some basic rules to prevent strange behavior:

  • Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names.

And if your Storyline software is not working properly, a simple repair may fix the problem.

Let us know if that helps...

Hi Merl,

I had this same issue when I was copying and pasting the question and answers from word into the quiz slide creation.

I then just created a multiple choice slide and typed in the questions and answers and it solved the issue. If you don't feel like typing it in, just type in a few characters for each, create the slide, then you can copy and paste when your editing the quetion(s).

I have a course with multiple scenes.  All scenes start with regular slides which is followed by a draw of multiple choice and T/F questions.  Everything was arranged sequentially from one scene to the next.  I just needed to remove one of the sections in the middle of the course. (e.g. removing scene 6 from a sequence of 7 scenes).  I don't know how to reconnect the scenes (after the last draw question on scene 5 move to scene 7.  Please advice.  Deadline is fast approaching.  Thank you!
