mp4 videos not displaying properly in preview mode

Hi everyone,

I created a Storyline project with mp4 videos. Unfortunately a virus infected my laptop. After the IT department reimaged my laptop and reinstalled Storyline, the mp4 videos do not display properly in Preview mode. I had published the project earlier on Articulate Online and this published version displays the videos fine. It's within Storyline itself where the problem seems to be.

I loaded Quicktime, updated flash, etc. Anyone have any ideas?

Hi there Dave!

So sorry to hear about the virus! Those are never fun to deal with. I'm happy to hear that your IT department was able to get you up and running, though!

The first thing I would check is the system DPI. Storyline doesn't currently support 120 DPI. If your system is set to 120 DPI, you may experience erratic behavior, such as:

*  Elements of the application are misplaced or distorted.

*  Objects are misplaced or distorted when previewed or published.

*  Zoomed images don't work as expected.

*  Font sizes are incorrect after using the translation features.

Here's how you can switch to 96 DPI

Let me know if the videos still don't play properly after adjusting that setting on your machine.

Hi Christine! 

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately I checked and my settings are already at 96 DPI. So far the only problem I notice is that the videos don't play; all other functionality seems to work. Which makes me think it must be a video codec, or an update or something. I have attached a screenshot of what the video looks like in preview mode.....Any ideas?

Hi Dave,

Woooooah... now.. that's different! :)

First thought? Video drivers. Are you able to update those yourself, or see if possibly your IT department can check them? 

Second? Flash. What version of Flash do you have installed? To find out, take a look at the following Adobe page:
