Multiple layer reveals based on a single trigger

Mar 07, 2013

Hello,

I'm trying to find a way to have a single button hide and show multiple layers on a single slide in sequence. In our case we have a complicated figure. Each layer has labels and diagrams pointing out specific things to note on the drawing.

What we'd like is the user would click a single button (or hit a certain key, like spacebar) layer 1 would appear. On the second click of the same button, layer 1 hides, layer 2 shows, then the 3rd, 4th, 5th, etc. Is there a simple way to do this?

Hi Brandon,

The easiest (but not necessarily the "cleanest") way to achieve this is to duplicate that button on each layer and position it on top of the original button. Then it's just a matter of modifying the layer button triggers (i.e. layer 1 button trigger goes to layer 2, layer 2 button trigger goes to layer 3 etc.).

Hope this helps,
Alex

Welcome to E-Learning Heroes, Brandon!

The first thing that comes to mind for me is variables. You could have each click of a button add to that variable, then depending on the value, a specific layer could show.

I put together a quick example, if you'd like to take a look.

Here's the published version.

I'm also attaching the file, if you'd like to see how I set this up.

Good luck with the project!
