Multiple quiz results in one slide

Oct 28, 2014

The course has four sections with four question banks. The final result slide determines if the questions from the all the question banks have been answered and if not the learner is directed back to that section and has to redo that part of the course together with the quiz. Unfortunately for me the final result does not add up as it takes the value of only the quiz that is re-attempted and the values from the other question banks is ignored. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi Amrita,

Are you tracking each of the question banks with their own results slide, and then compiling those into a final results slide or using one master results slide that is looking at all the quizzes? What are the triggers associated with the "retake" of the quiz? Is it set up to "reset the results" of a particular results slide (either the master compiled result or the individual results slides)?

Are you seeing this change in score within the results slide or just in your LMS?

All the quizzes have their own results slide and then are compiled onto a final one. There is a reset the results trigger whenever the learner takes the quiz for each result slide. I haven't placed it in LMS yet.

I am having trouble with the composite score as when a user retakes a a single quiz. It affects the score from the other quizzes.

Hi Amrita,

On the final results slide are the users being prompted to retake the quiz or is it happening on the individual results slide? If it's on the final one - are you using just one button to reset the quizzes or do they each have their own buttons? It may help if you're able to share a copy of the .story file here with us so that we could take a look at what you've got set up, triggers, etc.

Hi Ashley,

It is actually a compliance course so I am only showing the learners the final result slide. The course has four sections and they need to get 100% on all sections  (there is one assessment at the end of the course for this). So if they get less than 100% on any section the review button for that section only becomes visible and they are directed to that section and the questions related to that section. So essentially they are retaking only that section of the test. The problem is that whenever they retake one test (say test 1) the test result for the next test (test 2) is impacted though they are not answering questions from test 2. I am attaching the document for your perusal.

Thank you for your help.

Hi Amrita,

Thanks for sharing your .story file here. I have not yet seen the behavior that you're describing, but let me tell you a bit about what I'm seeing. I take the course and say scored 62% out of a total 100. I see the review buttons, and I choose one and answer the questions differently, and I then revisit the results slide, and my score has changed - presuming I answered them incorrectly it's gone down to 50%. I go through this process a few more times, and I'm able to change the score and make the buttons disappear/reappear based on how I did - but I'm not sure I'm seeing that I'm resetting any of the other quizzes?

I did notice some things that looked a bit off in terms of your triggers. None of your "retry" buttons include a trigger to reset the results of the individual results slides. Looking at the individual results slides themselves, I saw your "reset results" trigger based on when the variable changes - but for that to work, the variable would need to change on that slide. Also, even though the user isn't shown the individual results slide, you'll want to have them all be visited as the trigger to submit/set the results is based on when the timeline of those slides start - you could do something to hide them from being seen such as showing a blank layer over the top of all the slide elements also when timeline starts, or setting a jump to slide, next slide trigger when the timeline starts (just ensure that appears after the "submit results" trigger).
