As Ryan mentioned, having a .story file would be helpful here - but I'm assuming you also mean some custom buttons you've included not the built in buttons on the player? If it's the custom buttons you may want to also look at the timing of those elements on the timeline and set them to "Show until end" or "show always" to leave them on the timeline. Also would there be anything changing the state of the buttons, such as a trigger?
Thanks for the quick responses. I figured it out. For some reason, on this slide only, the settings on the little "cog" in the lower right corner of the layer changed to having no forward/back setting. I changed it there and the problem is fixed.
Thanks Wendy for the update - and I'm glad you were able to figure it out! It sounds like they disappeared when jumping to a new slide so I'm glad you enabled them within the slide properties.

If you are referring to the built in buttons, I'd want to first confirm that you're working with local project files as described here. And you may also want to look at conducting the repair of Storyline.
Hi everyone,
