Navigation key not completely enabled.

Sep 12, 2019

Hi,

I am currently working on a project that involves disabling and re-enabling the "Next" button.

I've disabled/hidden the "Next" button when timeline starts and changing state to normal at the end of the timeline.

When i preview the scene it works fine, however when i go to the previous slides at the end of the scene, the next button still remains disabled/hidden, despite the timeline being completed. I am unable move to the next slides because of this issue.

I have checked the "Slide Properties" for when revisiting. Tried with both "resume saved state" and "automatically decide", the issue persists. I don't want to use "Reset to initial state" as it makes the user go through the whole slide again.

Am i missing something here?

Attached a sample with the triggers i used. Help!

Hi Kiran and welcome to E-Learning Heroes :)

Thanks for reaching out and sharing what you are experiencing with your project.

I'd be happy to take a look, but it looks like your file did not attach above.

With your permission, I'd like to take a look at your project file to investigate what's happening. You can share it publicly here, or send it to me privately by uploading it here. I'll delete it when I'm done troubleshooting.

Hi Kiran,

One thing you could do, if this is necessary for all slides, is to use the Restricted feature in menus, even if you are not using menus. Go to the Player button, and then Menu, and select the gear icon. Change the menu to Restricted. This has the effect of disabling the Next button until the end of the timeline the first time the learner views a slide. On subsequent views, the Next button is enabled.

Hi David

I explored that option. It solves the problem of the navigation for slides within a scene.

However, the learning content i am working on, is about 60 minutes long. Restricting the menu will make the navigation difficult and annoying for the user, particularly if they prefer to jump around different sections.

Also, some of the sections i have are linked to other scenes using triggers. I have disable the next button until each of these scenes are visited. Here is where you solution doesn't work.

EDIT: I'm trying to find alternate options for the slides that link other scenes, building around your suggestion. Thank you! appreciate your help!
