Next button on iPad sometimes requires more than 1 tap to advance

Apr 14, 2014

We're publishing our courses with HTML5 and things are working pretty well.  But, on an iPad, sometimes (10-20% of the time) you need to tap the Next button more than once to get it to advance to the next screen.  This happens even if you wait a sufficiently long period of time to make sure the current screen is fully loaded.  And, the Next button recognizes that it has been tapped by changing appearance temporarily to the depressed image, so it's not just a simple "miss" of the finger.  Has anyone else run into this?

Also, I must be missing something, but how do you search through the messages on this forum?  Every time I enter something into the Search box and click on Go, I get no results found.

Thanks,

Mark

Hi there Mark and welcome to the community!

No doubt the search feature on the forums could definitely use a helping hand - we're hoping that the next version of the forums will have a more user-friendly search feature.

In the meantime, however, I personally recommend using Google instead. If you use a specific string "site:nameofdomain.com", you can narrow the search results for a specific domain. For example, you could search for "Storyline Video Best Practices site:community.articulate.com". Using that search, you'll actually see a lot of pretty helpful threads on that particular subject.

Now, for the issue you're experiencing with the "Next" button in your mobile course - it sounds like it's not a consistent issue and it's specific to HTML5/Safari. Are you able to test one of the courses in the Articulate Mobile Player, just to see if it also happens when viewed through the app?

Also, can you confirm you're publishing with the most recent version of Storyline? Articulate Storyline Update 5 is now available. It includes bug fixes, performance improvements, and HTML5 output enhancements.

Click here for details on Update 5, or download the update.

If you've published with the most recent version and still have trouble with this, please share your .STORY file. You can attach the file to your response by using the small paperclip icon. If the file isn't too large, it should attach to this thread. If you have trouble sharing this file, please let us know.

Thanks!

Christine
