Next Button still selectable at the start of a slide even when Disabled.

May 17, 2024

I have a few trainings built and have the next button triggered to disable at the start of the slide, however, if the user is clicking fast enough the next button is active for a brief moment and the slide can be skipped, after about a second it will be in the disabled state. This is happening to all disabled next buttons in this training series.

I have a few work arounds I can build into the training to fix this but was hoping someone might have a better (easier) solution.

- I have deleted the Triggers and added them back to try and fix it but that is still causing the same issue.

Do you have Transitions between the slides? If so, try deleting those.

Another option: if you need the Next button disabled for all (or most) of the slides, set to course to Restricted navigation.

Here’s how Restricted navigation works:

  • Storyline puts the Next button in the Disabled state when the user first visits the slide.
  • Storyline changes Next to the Normal state when the slide’s timeline ends. Simply adjust the timeline to adjust when Next will be enabled.
  • Next remains in the Normal state whenever the user revisits a completed slide.
  • This works even if you don’t show the built-in Menu.
  • If you do show the built-in Menu, users will be able to click the Menu to jump to any previously view slide. But they won’t be able to click the Menu to advance to a new slide.
